Past Events
To get a sense of what kind of events the GSA hosts for students, here are a few events from previous years.
AOE-GSA Fireside Chat : 17, March, 2022
The Fireside Chat is a unique event which gives graduate students a platform to interact directly with AOE professors. It is geared towards development of faculty-student interaction in an academic but informal setting. This exclusive event lets you chat and ask questions that bemuse you, all while enjoying some delicious food!
Since the month of March is Women's History month, the AOE-GSA would like to promote the HeforShe movement which focuses on women and men working together to achieve gender equality!
All genders are not just welcome but required for a productive conversation on diversity!
AOE-GSA Fireside Chat : 25, October, 2021
This event is an opportunity for all AOE graduate students to be up close with the department faculty and talk about topics that interlace their lives very closely as researchers. This exclusive event is an informal gathering between the faculty and graduate students to interact, chat and ask questions that intrigue them about research and academia. The event is motivated to not only give grad students a platform to interact with the highly celebrated professors of the AOE department, but also develop networking skills useful while seeking jobs or presenting in conferences.
3MT: 3-Minute Thesis Competition
Practice Round: November 11, 2021
Final Round : November 12, 2021
The 3 min thesis concept is a great way to know if you can effectively communicate your research in a clear, concise and appealing way. This is also a good opportunity for students to showcase their skills and thesis even though they are not necessarily close to graduation with all the data for their projects.

At the beginning of every semester, the GSA hosts a welcome (back) to the department social for new and returning students. This event offers and opportunity for students to meet fellow students and faculty that may attend.
